If I had to sum up my taste in movies in several words, they would probably be "vaguely intellectual and artsy," "vaguely" being the key word. Contact is not artsy, and Sleepy Hollow is not intellectual. And one would be hard-pressed to say that The Mask of Zorro is either intellectual or artsy (although I will admit that it's pretty to look at).

I've divided up my better-liked films into their respective categories, although some will overlap. Almost everything here will have some sort of romance, so I'll star (*) ones in which it doesn't play much of a role.

Top movie choices: Les Enfants du Paradis (Children of Paradise), Strictly Ballroom, The Truman Show*
Angsty/depressing films: American Beauty, Edward Scissorhands, Farewell My Concubine, Les Enfants du Paradis, Romeo and Juliet (1968 Zeffirelli), The Remains of the Day
Animated films: Ghost in the Shell, Mononoke Hime (Princess Mononoke), Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust (not the 1985 original)
Films that I would commit serious bodily harm in order to go back in time and be a part of the production: Les Enfants du Paradis, The Nightmare Before Christmas
Films that make me cheerful and thankful for Hollywood and big-budgeted companies: The Mask of Zorro, Wargames
Films that make me hyper after I watch them:The Nightmare Before Christmas
Good romances: Everything in Angst/depressing, Sense and Sensibility, Strictly Ballroom
Gorgous/artsy films: Farewell My Concubine, Sleepy Hollow, Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust
Non-cheesy sci-fi: Contact*, Gattaca*, Star Wars* and The Empire Strikes Back
Really cool films aka Films that make me go "Ooooh!": Run Lola Run, Vampire Hunter D: Bloodust
Thinking films: Contact*, Gattaca*, The Truman Show*

A page for Les Enfants du Paradis is currently in the works. I have no idea when I'll be done with it. In the mean time, you're welcome to take a look at the pictures I've collected.
